Refers to the variety of finishes applied in a thin layer to provide an economical hard surface that is rot, rust, and fire resistant. These coatings can be trowelled or sprayed on a variety of substrates including bricks. Base layers are usually modified cement based with the finish layer modified cement based or acrylic with total thickness usually not exceeding 8mm thick. This can be coloured and finished to a wide range of textures too.

The main difference of solid plaster also referred to as stucco from texture coatings is that solid plastering is a thick application of cement or modified cement plaster at least 12mm thick to the wall that not only provides a beautiful sandy finish but also a durable, hardy surface and protection to the walls.
